Designed for children ages 2 to 12 years and Adults, The Pagoda Bells are a unique outdoor instrument whose different sized layers and rich tone call to mind eastern architecture and mysticism. The sound of the bells hangs in the air for a few seconds, allowing other notes to be played ‘on top’ of them simultaneously. Each bell can be struck individually to produce different pitches, or the mallet can be slid from top to bottom hitting every bell on the way down to produce a glissando of notes that blend together. This instrument can easily be played with a single mallet, but a pair is provided to allow for two musicians playing a duet. Since the entire structure rests on a single recycled plastic post, it is one of the most spatially efficient outdoor instruments available, and can be easily installed in any location or on any surface (although there is an additional cost for surface-mount installation).
